  • I love fire!!  Last Christmas my children gave me a chimenera.  So today I’ve spent much of the afternoon watching branches burn.  I sure miss wood heat.  Central heat just isn’t the same. With a wood stove or even a fireplace, you get really hot and move away to cool down.  It is perfect for those cold days when you want to be outside.  You know you will get really warm when you come in.  Central heat is too passive.  You get warm eventually, but there’s no passion to it.  Well, today isn’t really cold enough to appreciate a toasted face, but it is still fun.

  • I am sure this is the first of many times you will use it this winter.  I have one but have not used it yet – this encourages me to use it soon.  I know the girls would enjoy it.

  • We have two of those things.  My favorite thing to do with it is put a cookie cooling rack on top and cook sausages and warm tortillas.  Followed by smores, of course!

  • Ahhhh, so that’s what a chimenera is good for. :o ) I’ve seen those things but never heard anyone speak about their experience with it. Smores sound really good right about now. :o )

  • I miss my Big Buck woodstove too!  You mentioned the heat, but I miss the smell.  But then, I guess I always was a little bit weird…

  • Yeah, I miss the smell too, but I don”t miss the ashes and wood chips everywhere! And the soot.

  • I loved our woodstove (expecially when we got snowed on and they hadn’t replaced the central heat yet), but the smell of smoke used to give me headaches and make me nauseous.  Of course I was pregnant at the time…hmm, maybe that was it.

  • I agree. My parents live in a house with a wood stove and I live in one with central heat. 70 degrees feels colder in central heat.
