This week has flown by way too quickly. On Monday my husband woke
up with what looked like poison ivy on his back. It has slowly
gotten worse until today when he finally went to the doctor. He hadn’t
been able to sleep for the past couple of nights. So today we
found out that he has a case of shingles. Sometimes I think the
internet is too helpful. I read what I could and got thoroughly
panicked. Then I read again and noticed the possibility of those
long-lasting effects. There are only a few people who take a long
time recovering or who have residual problems. I think I’ll just wait
and see how it goes. In the meantime, I’m going to do what I can
to help him feel good and get the rest he obviously needs.

My best friend had a case of shingles when she was in college, at age 20, which is ridiculously young and unusual. However, she was under a lot of stress, the normal college stuff, plus her parents were going through a separation of sorts, and she has always been prone to weird diseases. It was pretty painful and no fun to get over. I hope it goes quickly for your hubby.
Poor guy – shingles are absolutely NO FUN!!! Hopefully your doctor gave him something for the pain, and I’ll be praying his affliction goes away soon. By seeing the doctor early, maybe your husband’s case will be arrested before it gets too serious …
Hey..
Sorry it has taken me so long to comment back. This past week has been really been hectic and it appears that there is no end in sight. As an Army (Reserve) Chaplain we have a lot of rotations of units going on for summer encampments as well as deployments out of country as well as in-country. To add to that… the National Guard is very low on Chaplains and we are taking on some of the task that are normally done by their Chaplains as well. So we are doing double duty. This is a great time of ministry though.. as you get to touch a lot of families who otherwise don’t have anything to do with church or preachers.
Will be praying for your hubby. I have not had the shingles, nor do I want them, but I can feel for him nonetheless!
Have a blessed week and may the Lord be with you in all that you do.

Shingles can be pretty nasty. My aunt has a pretty bad case of them right now….Hope your hubby feels better soon!
